Central Park Police
The Central Park Police Precinct house is located on the Transverse Road at 86th St. and is the oldest precinct house in New York City dating from 1871 and designed by Calvert Vaux. While the precinct maybe the quietest in terms of crime statistics the officers here are still responsible for the safety and welfare of the over 20 million visitors Central Park receives each year. Their duties range from directing homeless campers to the nearest shelter to providing security during the many concerts and festivals that take place in and around the park each year.
