The Global Citizen Festival will return to the Great Lawn in Central PArk New York City on Sept. 23, 2023! Headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers and Ms. Lauryn Hill, with Megan Thee Stallion, Conan Gray, and Stray Kids!
As the Public Theater’s Public Works program enters its second decade it will relaunch the play that launched the program, William Shakespeare’s THE TEMPEST. With music and lyrics by Benjamin Velez and directed by Obie Award winner and Director of Public Works Laurie Woolery, this ambitious work of participatory theater explores the grief of being cut off from community, the desire for retribution, and the healing power of love.

The iconic Loeb Boathouse in Central Park will be reopening this summer. Legends Hospitality has agreed to spend more than $3 million to operate the venue over the next decade, according to Mayor Eric Adams. The Loeb Boathouse, which opened 150 years ago, officially closed on Dec. 31 after the former operator, Dean J. Poll, said he was forced to shut down the venue due to rising costs of goods and labor. The reopening is welcome news to the many park visitors that have enjoyed the view and refreshments for generations.
The Public Theater will stage ‘Hamlet’ as this summer’s Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Ato Blankson-Wood will star as the tragic prince in a modern-dress production directed by Kenny Leon.
The largest pickleball installation in the Northeast is now open at Wollman Rink. The rink has been converted into 14 Pickleball courts offering 196 hours of play a day, according to CityPickle, which is running the installation. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The installation stays through Oct. 9.
