The Heckscher Ballfields were carved from the original Heckscher Playground and are the earliest examples of an area of the park being designated specifically for sports. Around the diamonds there are bleachers for the convenience of spectators as well as a nearby snack kiosk and restroom facilities. Just south of the fields you’ll find Umpire Rock, apparently named for its commanding view of the games being played below.

Location : Seventh Avenue & Central Park South from 61st to 63rd Streets

From The Philharmonic on the Great Lawn to Shakespeare in the Park to SummerStage, Central Park offers an endless array of things to do, see, hear – and, with two full service restaurants and several cafes, taste.  You can visit The Shakespeare Garden, take in a performance at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater, take a ride on the Carousel – or just sit and people watch at Bethesda Terrace!
