The first major snowstorm of the season packed quite a wallop, dumping almost two feet of snow on New York City.

National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Scalora said Central Park had gotten 20 inches as of 7 a.m. with drifts up to three feet.
The winds were strongest overnight and into the early morning hours, blowing up to 59 mph at John F. Kennedy International Airport and 55 mph at LaGuardia Airport.
White Plains in Westchester County had even stronger gusts, up to 67 mph.
