Tennis

With over 30 outdoor courts (26 clay and 4 asphalt), the Central Park Tennis Center, located near West Drive between West 94th and West 96th Streets, is the perfect place to get the blood pumping and the racquets swinging.

The tennis season begins in early April and continues through the summer and fall until late November.  During the season the courts are open daily from 6:30am until dusk.  (Depending on the month the last hour of play ranges from 2-3PM to 7-8PM). Note that there is limited tennis during the off season as although the clay courts close, the 4 asphalt courts do remain open.

All players must have a season pass or single-play permit.

Season permits can be purchased at the Arsenal, located inside the Park at Fifth Avenue and 64th Street. Permits are issued from the last week in March and are good for use until the end of the season. The rates for a season permit are: Adults, $100; Seniors, $20; and Juniors, $10.

Single-play permits are good for one hour of tennis each day and are available both at the Arsenal permit office and the Tennis Center.  These cost $7 per person per hour.

Note that smooth-soled shoes are required and running shoes are prohibited.  Reservations are required and lessons and other fun programming are available.
